Guilford College is a phenomenal small, private, four year liberal arts college. Located in Greensboro NC this college is one of the oldest in the state as it was founded in 1837 by the Religious Society of Friends (the Quakers). Guilford College enjoys a beautiful campus, with exceptional architecture and beautiful landscapes. The academic atmosphere one finds here is like none other in the area. Much of the lectures and classes are held in an open forum and kept largely informal with professors mentoring students.
 Because Guilford College was founded with Quaker principles in mind, the school is often a location for peaceful protests and progressive organized acts that speak out against the war and other social injustices. Political activism is very popular here, helping it to maintain its tradition as being one of the most progressive schools in the South. Each summer, Guilford College plays host to the five week long Eastern Music Festival which features professional and student musicians that visit the school to give seminars and public performances.
