Downtown Greensboro Incorporated (DGI)
is an independent, non-profit agency
established in 1997 to work closely with
the private sector and local government
to stimulate new investment and interest
in Greensboro's central business
district. DGI is governed by a 33-member
Board of Directors, elected by members
of the organization. |
The city of Greensboro has long been a commercial center for the Piedmont Triad region and one of the larger metropolitan areas in the state of North Carolina. What was once an area dominated by agricultural and textile manufacturing ventures is now a hub for new technology companies, insurance companies and medical and educational research. With exceptional healthcare facilities and higher learning institutions the city of Greensboro enjoys a flourishing economy. There are several think tanks, action groups and not for profit organizations that help entrepreneurs and other business people start their businesses, expand their options and further the growing economy of Greensboro.
